Friendships are an important source of support for children affected by parental cancer, so bringing friends together specifically to support the children affected can be very successful.

Explain that their friends are not facing the same situation, so it may be hard for them to relate.

Be aware that some friends will not know what to say, or think it is rude to ask questions. Explain that their friends are not facing the same situation, so it may be hard for them to relate.

Some friends may also need support as they can take the news quite badly.
